Meta Ads for E-commerce Stores

Meta Ads for E-commerce Stores — here is the no-fluff version. This is what I actually run for U.S. small businesses: one strong offer, broad targeting with creative doing the work, conversion tracking via the Conversions API, and retargeting the warm audience.
The short answer
For most U.S. small businesses the result here comes from one strong offer, broad targeting with creative doing the work, conversion tracking via the Conversions API, and retargeting the warm audience. Get those right before you add another channel, another tool, or another dollar of budget. Nearly every underperforming account I audit fails on a fundamental, not on something advanced.
Start with the numbers you already have
Write down three things before you change anything: where last month's leads came from, what share of them you closed, and your average customer value. Those decide what a good cost per lead looks like for your business. Without them, every budget decision is a guess.
The step-by-step plan
Week 1: fix tracking so every lead is attributed to a source. Week 2: rebuild the single asset closest to the sale — the landing page, the offer, or the highest-intent campaign. Weeks 3-6: test two versions of the headline and the offer. Week 7 onward: put budget only behind what produced booked appointments.
Benchmarks to hold yourself to
Aim for a 2-5% landing page conversion rate, a cost per lead under 10% of average job value, and a lead response time under five minutes. Businesses that hit all three grow on much smaller budgets than the ones that miss them and try to spend their way out.
Mistakes that cost you customers
Spreading a small budget across four channels, sending paid traffic to the homepage, no negative keywords or audience exclusions, forms with eight fields, and leads sitting unanswered overnight. Each one quietly doubles what a customer costs you.
How to know it is working
Keep one sheet of booked appointments and revenue by source, reviewed weekly. Clicks, impressions, and rankings are diagnostics — they explain the result, they are not the result. If revenue is flat after 90 days of clean data, change the offer before you change the channel.
